Between Yule and the New Year lies a most special holiday. On this particular winter’s evening, we sing carols and partake of drinks both sweet and spiced. We feast with our loved ones and exchange presents in front of the fire.

Meanwhile, outside, darkness falls. Ice-bound pine branches scratch against the sealed windows. Winter is patient. It waits for us to wander into its maw. It is the perfect time for ghost stories, and a cosy Christmas crime or two.
